Angels, an alternative response to trick or treating?
Angels Not Pumpkins
Display your Christmas Angel Lights on 31st October.
At Silent Lights we have come up with a positive response to children trick or treating. We know that many people find this evening quite frightening. We want to encourage Christians to use this as an opportunity to declare their faith, by displaying an
angel light
outside their home. We also have
gift tags
which can be downloaded free, so you can wrap some sweets, and attach the gift tag. The tag offers a simple introduction to why Christians want to celebrate All Saints Eve.

Not Ashamed of the Nativity?
Throughout 2010 Silent Lights have given away over 300 Nativity Sets to help restore the use of Christian Christmas imagery and so share the nativity story within communities across the UK.
Silent Lights has given away 160 nativity sets at the Christian Resource Exhibitions at Sandown in May, and then again at Telford in October. Visitors to the Silent Lights stand at the exhibition were given the opportunity to take away a set of five nativity figures, in exchange for a donation to charity which suited their budget.
In these tough economic times Heather May, the managing Director was asked how can Silent Lights could afford to do this?
“In these times of economic uncertainty, we felt it was important to focus on why we set up Silent Lights, which was to offer a creative solution to restore the Christian Christmas message. We all know that many children will see several Santas, and reindeers on their way to school, but how many Nativity scenes will they see, and will they know the story behind the imagery?
We need to celebrate the nativity publicly in our communities.
“Giving away the sets of Nativity Figures has enabled Churches and Christian organisations obtain a set of figures for a price that suits their budget. While we need to operate as a sustainable business, we do not want price to be the barrier to restoring the Christian message, and we acknowledge that many Churches are operating with reduced budgets this year. Despite the financial challenges we face as a business, we do recognise that our standard of living is still very comfortable when you consider the communities where our charity partners are working. We are trusting that the nativity figures we have given away will help to restore the message of Hope to communities in the UK, while the donations received will enable the same Christian message of Hope to be shared with the communities overseas. We would like to thank the visitors to CRE who gave so generously to our charity partners, International Needs and Toybox charity.”
£2000 has been given to International Needsto help build a medical centre in Bukino Faso, one of the poorest countries on the planet. The medical centre will make a world of difference to the lives of ordinary people in Bobo Dioulasso who currently have no way of obtaining relief from minor ailments or treatment for more serious illnesses
£2400 was donated to Toybox to help support their work offering hope and opportunity to street in children in Guatamala, Peru, Bolivia and El Salvador. Every day Toybox offers these forgotten children the chance of a new start and a brighter future.
Silent Lights is committed to doing things locally and so is delighted to confirm that these life-size figures can be seen in many Kent primary schools this Advent season. Silent Lights, in partnership with the Family Trust is giving 144 nativity sets to our primary schools in the Maidstone and Medway areas. The Family Trust is a Christian based organisation which has been working in primary schools for over 20 years. Members of the Family Trust team have been invited to lead a Christmas themed assembly, when the life-size figures are used as props. Towards the end of a fun-filled time, the school will be presented with a special Christmas gift, their own set of nativity figures, which can be used for years to come.
Do call us on 01622 682255 if you wish to visit us at our office, in Buckland Road, Maidstone, prior appointment only please.

1 September: Press Release
TRADITIONAL LIGHTS TO BRING STYLE AND CELEBRATION TO YOUR CHURCH OR HOME THIS CHRISTMAS
If you like the idea of decorating your Church or home with Christmas lights but hate the thought of the tacky range on offer from the high street, then a new range from Silent Lights could be just what you are looking for.
Silent Lights has launched a new range of simple, traditional images that will help you tell the Christmas story. The lights are easy to display as many can either be free standing or wall mounted.
The range includes everything from beautiful sparkly stars, to angels with trumpets and doves.
Silent Lights also has a range of two dimensional nativity sets, string and rope lights and cable extensions. All products can be viewed at www.silentlights.co.uk or call 01622 682255.
Heather May, Managing Director at Silent Lights comments: “In recent years it has become much more popular at Christmas to decorate the outside of your homes and buildings as well as the inside, but we found many people have been put off by the thought of the tacky ‘Homer Simpson’ style lights on offer that don’t tell the true story of Christmas. We wanted to offer a range of lights which are simple and traditional and will help churches or individuals tell the Christmas story. They are beautiful pieces which can be used collectively or in isolation.”

How early should we start preparing for Christmas ?
Christmas decorations are already on display in many retail outlets, and we know this prompts a mixed reaction from customers.
When do you start planning and preparing for Christmas? We know that many schools, churches and organisations start this process in September, and so we have a full range of stock of all our outdoor Christmas lights and (almost) lifesize nativity sets available now.
But of course lights are not just for Chirstmas and we have been very encouraged by the response to our outdoor lights, especially our ideas for a positive response to children trick or treating. (details above)
Do call us on 01622 682255 if you wish to visit us at our office, in Buckland Road, Maidstone, prior appointment only please.
Our range of rope light crosses have sold well throughout the year, in particular our new 1m LED rope light cross prompted much comment and discussion. LED rope light uses very little electricity to run, and last much longer, so minimising our environmental impact. Unfortunately we are now out of stock of our LED crosses.
12 August 2006: Silent Lights launch new range of products at the Detling Summer Conference 2006.
Our products were seen for the very first time at a local Christian conference held at the Kent county showground the Detling Summer Conference
One customer commented: “I’ve been looking for lights like this for twenty years!”
“I think all of the items are great!!!” Emma
“Available in the UK at last” Jeffory
“Very striking and unusual would look amazing outside our church” Valerie
A prize draw was run offering the winner a free nativity set worth £99.99. The winner was Mrs Diane Stiff of Orpington. Silent Lights also ran two family craft seminars. The children made different objects connected with Christmas and lights. This was very exciting, the adults and children alike enjoyed themselves greatly.
“Super worskshop for children Thank you!” Maureen
